BMW light up the stage with a new concept vehicle that looks like it will be the new 2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe. BMW decided to take a different approach to the coupe concept by making the new 6 Series Coupe 2+2-seater instead of 2-seater.

The powertrain of the new 6 series will most likely be a 4.4L V8 twin turbocharged vehicle at 400bhp and 450ft-lbs of torque coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. BMW has revealed little about the M6 that should follow about a year after the 2012 is released but it looks like this M6 will be a pure rocket ship pushing out 600bhp.

Thank you BMW, the exterior has been completely redesigned and will be using the new 5 Series styling. This will eliminate the grotesque trunk lid of the previous 6 Series. BMW states that “aesthetically sculpted surfaces define the design of the BMW Concept 6 Series Coupé, in which classic BMW coupe styling cues are given a modern rendition…reminiscent of wave motion on the surface of an ocean, generated by the ebb and flow of wind and tides,” according to a BMW press writer.

The interior is a “forward-surging wave theme” that was specifically designed to incorporate the door panels and dash. The instrument panel is a sleek and elegant black with an electronic display. Bang & Olufsen will supply the sound system in the new 6 Series providing this coupe with 16 speakers and its’ own amplifier.
